Vale Terry O’Connor

The University Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of Club Life Member Terence ‘Terry’ O’Connor QC (aka Boof).

A University of WA law graduate and former UFC footballer, O’Connor passed away on Saturday 25 April.

In his time, he was regarded as the heart of the University Football Club, where he played more than 250 games but also served as president, secretary, captain and coach.

He was well known in the Perth football community, having been heavily involved in the establishment of the West Coast Eagles before becoming club chairman and also working as an AFL Commissioner.

UFC Club legend Neil Donaldson, who played alongside O’Connor, wrote: “How fortunate have I, and so many others been, in knowing and being involved with the very personable, strong willed, generally lovable “Boof” O’Connor over the years.

“His remarkable contribution and service, given always so enthusiastically at various times to the University Football Club, the West Coast Eagles, the AFL Commission, John XXIII College, Notre Dame University and to the Law, has been outstanding and will be forever remembered by us all. He will be missed. ”

The University Football Club offers its sincerest condolences to his wife Annabel, children Simon and Dimity and all of his wider family.
